My Story
“I have always recorded the environment around me and how it makes me feel. I am particularly drawn to dramatic, rocky landscapes and love the immediacy of plein air painting, capturing the light, shapes and colours of what I see before me.”
Surrounded by the beautiful and sometimes austere alpine environment of Victoria’s North East, my studio looks directly to Mt Buller. My work is strongly influenced by seasonal changes on the landscape and the diversity of native Australian flora.
Field paintings are developed in the studio in a range of painting media and translucent porcelain. I revel in painting ‘en plein air’ within the landscape, trying to capture the mood of the moment. These sketches are developed into larger, more considered compositions, using oil and acrylic paints, as well as my thrown or handbuilt ceramics, where the vessel becomes my canvas.
My awarded work is held in private and public collections, both nationally and internationally, and I have been selected as a finalist in numerous art prizes for painting and ceramics. My porcelain vessels have also been given as ministerial and corporate gifts. More details below.
